At 19 years old, in 1997, I received a heart and double-lung transplant. That experience changed far more than my health, it changed the way that I see life, resilience, gratitude, and the people whose sacrifices make second chances possible.

Art has become a way for me to explore my personal journey from recipient to survivor. My story shapes the symbolism throughout my work.

My work explores themes of healing, survival, organ donation, sacrifice, hope, and human connection. Some pieces reflect the beauty of receiving a second chance, while others acknowledge the pain and complexity that can exist alongside it. Together, they tell a larger story about what it means to receive an extraordinary gift and continue living with its impact.

I hope this work connects with transplant recipients, donor families, caregivers, healthcare professional, and anyone whose life has been touched by organ donation. But these pieces also speak to something universal- the ways in which we endure, change, heal, and find meaning after life takes an unexpected turn.
